REACHING OUT AND SPEAKING OUT

 

There is a great deal of political and social unrest in our community and other communities nationwide.  The lack of economic opportunities in the inner cities of Los Angeles are representative of what is taking place throughout the country in various cities with high minority populations.  The existing social climate is one of distrust, frustration, fear, and depression.  Poverty is a sickness that has stricken our communities for decades.  Injustice is a disease that has plagued the people who reside in our communities for centuries.  Crossing Over Ministries seeks the help of those who would not stand idly by and continue watching our cities be destroyed by these ailments but would instead will reach out to those afflicted and speak out with message and philosophy of Christ while confronting these issues head on.

 

Help us speak out against the violence taking place in our streets.  Help us speak out against broken families and the lack of fathers in the home.  Help us speak out against the ancient issue of racism that continues to tear our country apart through division and ignorance.  There are so many issues that require our attention.  So many people need not only our prayers, but also our time and resources; however, limited they may be.  Every person can make a difference in another person’s life.  We pray and hope that you will join in this fight to change the social climate. 

 

Many minorities, particularly those in the African-American and Hispanic communities, have become frustrated with law enforcement and have lost trust in their ability to objectively perform their duties.  Young men from these communities, represent a demographic that seems to get targeted disproportionately.  The arrest and incarceration number support this assertion. As a church family, we have taken it upon ourselves to pray for our city.  Our prayers are for the young men, as well as, the officers who patrol our streets.  We believe it is important that we take notice of the conflict that exists in our community and shine a light on it.  

Dialogue needs to take place inside and outside of the church walls.  Crossing Over Ministries is reaching out to mothers, fathers and sons who can identify with this scenario.  We are also reaching out to the law enforcement community.  We are speaking out against injustice and we are also speaking out against recklessness and lawlessness.  Crossing Over Ministries is reaching out to individuals in the community with the hope that you will help us speak out on some of these issues. 

 

Our plan is to do it one person at a time, one marriage at a time, and one family at a time.  That . . . is how we plan to make an impact.  That . . .  is how we plan to change the world.  The ripple-effect of changing one person’s life, can reach further than you can ever imagine.  God bless and keep you all.
